ecoVINO says: This is the most prestigious Super Tuscan wine produced by the Muralia winery. This full-bodied premium red wine has lots of character and complexity, making it great value for money. The wine is produced from a blend of Syrah (50%), Cabernet Sauvignon (30%) and Sangiovese (20%) grapes and has fantastic balance and structure. This wine is both rich and bold and is extremely drinkable now. If stored properly, the wine will further develop with excellent long-term ageing potential.
Aroma: Pronounced and intriguing aromas of succulent ripe black fruits - particularly blackberry and blackcurrant – with overtones of black fruit jam and brambles. Notes of pipe tobacco, oak and eucalyptus with hints of black pepper.
Taste: Dry with medium-to-high acidity, high alcohol and medium-to-high tannins. Full-bodied with an imposing and persistent long finish. Opens with decadent black fruit flavours – particularly plum, blackcurrant, cherry and blackberry – with vegetal overtones (particularly vine stems) and notes of oak, cedar and leather on the finish.
Open: To fully appreciate the complexity of the wine, best to open at least 2 hours before service.
Service temperature: Low room temperature (16 to 18 degrees Celsius).
Food pairing: Best paired in combination with structured and savoury dishes. The wine is very versatile and will also pair really well with stronger flavours and spicy Asian dishes.
Wine-making process: Grapes are carefully handpicked in the first two weeks of September. Each grape varietal is separately macerated in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature. After fermentation, the wine is blended together. Wine is then transferred to small oak barrels, where maturation continues to take place for a further 24 months to produce a top of the range Riserva (Reserve) wine. Refinement continues for a further 12 months inside the bottle.
Allergens: Minimal naturally-occurring sulphites lower than EU organic wine production requirements.
